The deep blue Ocean covers many mysterious secrets as well as 70% of the earth’s surface. Scientists declare that we have discovered only 2% to 5% of the earth’s underwater world. Many mysterious occurrences are happening far from the human eye and there are many eye-catching wonders of the sea which are in that 5% of secrets that have been discovered. Underwater waterfall in Mauritius secures a top place among those.

This area is located on the southwestern shore of Mauritius. If you don’t know Mauritius it is time to explore more about this beautiful island.

An amazing fact about this beautiful island is that there are no indigenous people. All the people are immigrants from France, East Africa, Britain, and India. These are not the only interesting facts about Mauritius. The Jaw-dropping fact about Mauritius is that it is the home to an underwater waterfall.



Underwater waterfall

On the southwestern shore of Mauritius, there is an underwater waterfall. We can see water cascading into the deep ocean from the shallow beach. The blue shade in the different parts of the waterfall is so mesmerizing. You have to take a helicopter ride to catch a full snap of this phenomenon. This spectacular but strange formation has offered Mauritius enormous fame. The tourists who are visiting Mauritius never fail to pay a visit to this beautiful area. Moreover, This amazing creation of nature has become a signature of this beautiful Island.

Though the waters cascading into the deep ocean can make us scared, this area is safe to swim, boat ride, and even surf. Now there pops the big problem “why?”. If there are thousands of gallons of water falling into the deep sea how can this area be safe to swim in? What is really happening here? Let’s find out.

What is really happening?

Actually what we see is an optical illusion. It is not water that is falling down to the depth of the sea but sand and silt sediments from the Mauritius seashore. The sand and silt which are in a perpetual movement deposit along the slopes at different depths and flaunt different shades of blue color. This polyphony of different shades can trick our eyes with a fascinating image of a waterfall underwater.
