Plot Summary

Suicide Squad which came out in 2021 starring Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, John Cena, Daniela Malchior, and David Dastmalchian, is a Movie based on the DC comics. It is a story about a team of elite criminals assembled by the United States government to do specific tasks. In contrast, if even one single member of the Suicide Squad goes astray, the government has the right to terminate them permanently. The movie begins with Amanda Waller, who is an Intelligence officer assembling the team and coordinating the attack.

She explains the mission in which they must go to the South American Island and Nation Corto Maltese, which is now controlled by an anti-American regime. And destroy a secret laboratory called Jötunheim, which contains something secretive called ‘Project Starfish. ‘The Suicide’ Squad is not told what the secret facility contains. It is later revealed that Amanda Waller has sent two teams. One is led by Rick Flag and the other is led by Bloodsport, played by Idris Elba. The team led by Rick Flag was sent as a distraction so that the original Suicide Squad could land safely on the island without any interference.

Harley quin gets caught

Upon landing, Rick Flag’s team immediately gets destroyed, leaving only Rick and Harley quin alive. Rick gets saved by the freedom fighters, while Harley quin gets captivated by the government. The following day, the Suicide Squad is instructed to save Rick Flag from a nearby camp. However, they are unaware that they are comrades rather than foes. Without a second thought, the team destroys the whole camp silently without triggering an alarm, only to find out that they friendlies.

Meanwhile, Harley Quin is taken to the palace and is given a beautiful wardrobe to get dressed. After that, she meets the General of the Corto Maltese Government and ends up killing him after knowing his plan. She is then retaken to custody and tortured. Meanwhile, the rest of the squad comes with a plan to rescue her. But as they approach, Harley Quin has already managed to escape without anyone’s help. Following this, they kidnap Thinker, who is the head of  ‘Project Starfish.’ They then proceed to the secret facility and carry on their plan. The rest of the movie revolves around the turn of events in Jötunheim and how the squad stumbles upon different obstacles, and how they contrive to defeat the enemy.

Chaos and Fun

As you will know, it is directed by James Gun, and his touch on the film is seen as clear as a crystal throughout the movie. The movie is all hell and fun, with dark humor popping up everywhere. The comedy is subtle and slight that they don’t force you to laugh, but you end up laughing anyway. The witty screen elements make them even more enjoyable. The director was given complete freedom, unlike his previous movies, where we could not see his potential being used. The whole movie is Noisy, fun, and has all the elements you would not expect to be.

The Characters

The characterization of the Suicide squad has both advantages and disadvantages. Firstly, the actors who played the main characters in Suicide Squad did a splendid job. And kept the audience entertained throughout the whole movie. Especially John Cena, who plays Peacemaker, did a wonderful job, whereas, in his previous Fast and Furious, he was just being used as a dummy to attract the audience.

In the suicide squad, James Gun gave him the push and freedom to explore his acting capabilities in this movie. This is undoubtedly his best acting performance so far. We are excited to see his web series coming up later this year. Now for the negatives. To give power and potential to the main characters, the rest have been used as dummies just trying to prove them. James Gun just kills off certain characters in a whiff as if they were nothing. This came out as shocking as some of the characters play a huge role in the original version of the comics. So the comic fans might not be happy about it

Other Pros and Cons

Pros: The editing and VFX team must be applauded for sure as it always grabs our attention. The trailers that were dropped for this film were a huge hit thanks to the editors and the sound designers which was a huge part of the marketing done for the movie. Moreover, the choice of music was admirable as it brought back a couple of memories.

Cons: As the movie progresses towards the end it kind of seems repetitive as we witness some similar sequences. But James Gun compensates it with a few surprises, too, so it doesn’t seem like a big issue there. But it’s a con nonetheless.

James Gun’s newly improved version of Suicide Squad is worthy of watching and celebrated as it’s all about fun and chaos.
