Sambol AKA salads are a tasty and nutritious side dish that you can prepare at home. Sri Lankans love to eat Sambol with rice. Pol Sambol or coconut salad is the most popular Sambol in Sri Lanka. That is a recipe for another article. Today we are gonna prepare a Mushroom Sambol and a snake gourd Sambol.
Mushroom salad is a mouth-watering salad that contains fried mushrooms. The texture of chewy Mushrooms and the savor of onions combined with tangy vinegar and chillis will give you a unique taste. This is an easy recipe but don’t underestimate the taste.
Mushroom Sambol
Ingredients
01) 200g of Oyster Mushrooms
02) 1 large onion
03) 3 green Chilis
04) 1 large tomato
05) 1 lime/ vinegar
06) Salt
07) Pepper
08) 1tbsp Mustard paste
09) 2tbsp of Maldives fish flakes (optional)
Method
Step 01
Firstly shred mushrooms vertically.
Step 02
Then deep fry shredded mushrooms until it gets golden brown.
Step 03
Slice the onion and tomato. Chop green Chilis into small pieces.
Step 04
Add everything together to a clean bowl and add salt and pepper.
Step 05
Finally, squeeze the lime and mix until everything combine well.
Your delicious mushroom Salad is ready. Bon appetite.
Snake gourd Sambol
Snake gourd Sambol is a cool Sambol that can be eaten with rice or the salad itself. The cool and moisture of the snake gourd plant and the sourness of lime and spice of pepper will make you fall in love with this salad.
Ingredients
01) Snake Gourd/(young )-250g
02) 1- onion
03) 5- green chilis
04) Lime
05) 2tbsp Maldives fish flakes
06) Pepper
07) Chili flakes
08) Salt
09) 1Tomato
Method
Step 01
Slice the snake gourd into thin pieces.
Step 02
Cut onion vertically. Chop green Chilis into thin pieces.
Step 03
Then mix all together. Add Pepper, chili flakes, salt, lime juice according to your taste. Finally, add Maldives fish flakes and sliced tomato.
Step 04
And mix it until all is well combined.
Note
Add canned tuna for more taste. Cut green chili into small pieces.
