The University of Salford is a public research university located in Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. In 1896, when the campus was the  “Royal Technical Institute”, it focused on training business and technical skills for the growing working population of this city. The institute slowly improved, eventually becoming the Royal College of Advanced Technology, and was granted college status by the UK government through an extension of higher education in 1967.

However, the Frederick Street Campus was the primary educational site of Salford University at that time in the fields of health, life sciences, and social care.
