MediaCity Campus, which was established in the early 2010s, would be widely regarded as one of the first higher educational institutions to create an exclusive training and research hub within MediaCityUK. Unlike most other buildings that are located on various campuses around the world, MediaCity is more like a functional media complex, weaving a teaching space with broadcast-standard television and radio studios, editing suites, post-production labs, and performance studios.

MediaCity Campus, part of MediaCityUK, located in the vicinity of Salford Quays, is an area of Greater Manchester in England. This waterfront area used to be part of the erstwhile Manchester Docks, which was an ingress port of the Manchester Ship Canal, built in the late 19th century. However, it was declared closed in the 1980s, leaving extensive industrial lands derelict.

Salford Quays became part of that regeneration and transformed the area with its great industrial history into one of the most ambitious urban intervention areas in the UK. The area was redeveloped as a mixed-use dystopia with offices, residential, cultural, and media production spaces. This new kind of area came to be called MediaCityUK. That campus facility was built around the mid-2000s with the hope of attracting media operations like the BBC, ITV, and the like to Salford Quays as the hub for broadcasting and creative industries.

MediaCityUK has become a vibrant and thriving hub of business, culture, and education in modern cities. The transformations from docklands to a media-generation borough have essentially altered the face of Greater Manchester, with contributory effects on employment, innovation, and urban regeneration.
