You have been apprised of the fact that a chemical exfoliation can give you that filter that is so damn perfect flawless. The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA serum is a popular choice, but is it all it’s cracked up to be? I decided to experiment on my face (because of science!), and here’s what I discovered.
First Impressions: Thin, Tingling Surprise
This serum feels like water – it is lightly runny and soft. The dropper can be used without any hindrances; however, try that with a little caution. One thing I wasn’t expecting? A light tingling sensation developed shortly after applying it. It was just a bit uncomfortable, but was not that painful. So that’s probably the lactic acid that’s doing its thing (or my skin is just having a meltdown?).
The Good Stuff: Bye-Bye Buildup, Hello Glow
I’ve been using this serum for a few weeks, and I must say my face is looking more polished and feeling rejuvenated due to the process of exfoliation. It appears that the acne has gone away because of the deep cleaning of the skin. But the best thing is the presence of a soft shine where one is not used. This is not like the sparkle of the disco ball, however; it is more of a light and a dewy kind of radiance.
What I liked about it as well was that it appears to be helping my other skincare products work better. My moisturizers sit into my skin more easily, and makeup seems to be a little more convenient to put on also. Therefore, it’s got extra marks for that!
Not So Great: Sensitive Skin Beware, Patch Test is Your Friend
So here’s the thing: this serum has an extra kick. Sensitive people, go for Kitosens! This might be your friendly OTC, but for others, it may be an OTC you want to avoid. The tingling I told you about earlier? Well, for certain folks, it might transform from mild notice to intense irritation. **Before covering the entire face, carry out a patch test!
Also, don’t forget that AHAs such as lactic acid can make your skin more susceptible to the sun. Therefore, sunscreens need to be taken daily without any omissions.
The Final Verdict: A Potent Exfoliator, But Proceed with Caution
The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA is a potent exfoliating serum that can leave your skin radiating with a smooth and bright look. All the same, this serum may not be suitable for everybody. This could be a little too much for those with more sensitive skin. Do a patch test first and make sure that the sunlight protection is on a high level!
Would I Recommend This?
Perhaps, you. If you have normal or combination skin, it can be a great way to make your skin radiant by removing the dead cells. Then you can take it or leave it off. However, for the skin type that is prone to sensitivity, do it with care and look for softer lactic acid.
