Just now, I came back from a tour to Colombo. And I’m thrilled to tell you about my fabulous hotel ITC Ratnadipa. The first thing that I can say is that this place has more than just a touch of luxury. It is luxury topped with a real Sri Lankan flavor.
Starting with the hotel’s location,
It is positioned right by the Indian Ocean, meaning that the views are simply out of this world. Imagine yourself waking up to the sight of the turquoise ocean glistening in the morning sun. What’s more, it’s very near to the city center, so you can venture out to Colombo’s trendy cafes and shops without any fuss.
No need to mention rest of the facilities for they were all too good. We’re talking of the comfortable beds and clean bathrooms with all the things to be used which even a makeup kit could be bought. Moreover, some rooms even have a sea balcony (depending on the room you get). But the real hero was not the design. The employees are pretty friendly – helpful, and always smile. They used to make it feel like you were the only guest in the hotel, telling you all the necessary things and resolving any problems you may have.

Food Culture
Let’s now discuss food. The breakfast buffet was awesome. They had everything from traditional Sri Lankan curries to pancakes and bacon. Also at the hotel, there are a number of restaurants that offer various cuisines ranging from Indian and Italian to fresh seafood. Peshawri (the food served at the Indian one) was the best I ever had in my life! Nevertheless, bear in mind, come very hungry, because the meals are huge.
First of all, the hotel is one that you would love. It’s a modern and state-of-the-art structure with a taste of Sri Lankan customs. It’s like glass furniture with splashes of colors combined with Sri Lankan traditional paintings on the walls. You will find an extremely attractive and relaxing pool zone besides the one for sunbathing; there is also a luxury spa if you decided to be more indulgent (come on, it’s vacation time, be good to yourself!).

Imagine a scenario when you find yourself in a lift of a luxury hotel and only the staff have elevators. At ITC Ratnadipa, we were so nice to each other it seemed more like a holiday with a Sri Lankan family (minus those who are trying to feed you all you can, of course!)
Verdict
In general, if you are looking for a luxury stay in Colombo with the best service, delicious food, and amazing views, then ITC Ratnadipa is the place to go. The prices are definitely on the high side, but for what one gets, it’s certainly worth it. Just make sure that you don’t leave without pampering yourself seriously!
