Sri Lanka is famous for its street food. Sri Lankan street style vade is a popular street snack that can be prepared with some cheap ingredients. The crunchiness of this snack combined with the spice of chili flakes and tanginess of onions will increase when you dip this into a Sri Lankan Lunu Miris. You can eat this with any kind of hot Sause and that will sharpen the taste. Let’s move on to this easy recipe.

Ingredients

01) Plain flour- 300g
02) One large onion- Chopped
03) Green Chili- 5 – Chopped
04) Curry leaves
05) Chili flakes- 1 tbsp.
06) Salt
07) Yeast- 2tsp
08) Lukewarm water




Method

Step 01
Firstly add 6tsp of lukewarm lukewarm water to the yeast and let it be active.

Step 02
When it’s active add everything except lukewarm water to a bowl.

Step 03
Then gradually add lukewarm water and knead the dough.
Add water until the dough reaches a sticky texture.

Step 04
After that let the dough rest until it gets double or triple in size.

Step 05
Knead the dough again. Apply some coconut oil to your palm to avoid the stickiness of the dough.

Step 06
Get about 50g of the dough and make a ball out of it.

Step 07
Then flatten it by using your palm and fingers until it reaches about 1.5cm of thickness.
Thereafter make a hole in the middle of the disc-shaped dough using your finger.

Step 08
After that deep fry it until it reaches a nice golden brown color.

Note

– Don’t use hot water, use lukewarm water.
– Use good quality yeast.
– Make a sticky dough, but not too liquidly. A sticky dough will give you a fluffy soft outcome.
– Adjust the amount of salt and the spiciness according to your preference.
