Kottu is a flavorsome food that originated in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankans prepare many Kind of Kottu such as Chicken Kottu, Cheese Kottu, Egg Kottu, Fish Kottu and many more. Today we are presenting a delicious recipe to prepare cheese Kottu.

The moisture of this Kottu combined with the buttery cheese and the savor of Sri Lankan Spices will create a heavenly dish to fill your tummy. This recipe has two parts. The Kottu and Cheese sause. Let’s make prepare some Sri Lankan cheese Kottu.

Ingredients

01) 100g of shredded cabbage
02) 1 large shredded carrot
03) 5 chives – chopped
04) 2 tbsp. of Ginger- Garlic paste
05) 1 large onion – Diced
06) 3 tbsp. of Butter
07) Salt
08) Paratha pieces from 10 parathas.
09) 1tsp Coconut oil
10) 2 tbsp. of Soy sauce
11) 1- 1.5 cups of spicy chicken gravy (with chicken pieces)
12) 1 egg (optional)

Ingredients for Cheese Sause

01) 2tbsp of butter
02) 1tbsp of flour
03) 1/2cup of milk
04) 1cup of grated processed cheese

Method of making Cheese Sause

Step 01
Add butter to a pan.

Step 02
When it melted add flour. Mix it until well combined.

Step 03
Then add milk and cheese. Let all the cheese melt.

Step 04
Turn off the heat when it reaches a thick consistency.

Method of making Kottu

Step 01
Add butter and oil to a pan.

Step 02
Then add diced onion.
Cook it until it gets slightly brown.

Step 03
When it got slightly brown add ginger-garlic paste.

Step 04
Thereafter add cabbage, carrot, salt, and Soy sauce. (in this point you can add an egg if you prefer. If you add an egg scramble it and mix it with the rest of the mixture.

Step 05
Cook it for about 5 minutes.

Step 06
Then add Paratha pieces and stir them.

Step 07
Finally, add 1/2-2/3 Cups of the Chicken gravy ( with chicken pieces).

Step 08
Let it simmer for about 5 minutes or until excess moisture evaporates.

Add 1/2-2/3 Cups of the cheese Sause.

Step 10
Add chopped chives. Give it a final good stir and garnish it with mozzarella cheese.

Note

– Stir it from time to time.
– Cook it under low flame.
– Make sure to adjust the amount of gravy and cheese sauce according to your preference
