Plot Summary
Pushpa’s movie starts with a chasing scene where a Truck is being hunted by cops in a hilly area. Unable to lose the cops, the truck stops at one place, and the driver gets down. It is revealed that Allu Arjun, who plays Pushpa Raj, was driving the truck. One of the cops runs towards him to beat him. But he counters the cop and defends himself. He tries to bribe the cops while fighting them simultaneously. As he beats more and more, a higher official finally manages to knock him out.
We see Allu Arjun tied up inside the cop’s vehicle following this. He still tries to bribe them while increasing the amount every time they say no. Finally, he comes up with an offer they can’t possibly refuse. Allu Arjun promises that he will give each cop a hundred thousand rupees. They agree to this and let Allu Arjun go. After this, we are taken back in time to see how Allu Arjun got to this position.
He goes to a job where some syndicate illegally smuggles red sandalwood. While doing so, they are raided by cops. Allu Arjun quickly takes the truck that contains the wood and flees. The cops chase him, but he seems to have made the truck disappear, and the cops see him walking alone in the road. They catch him and interrogate him to find the answers. But they end up spending all their energy, and yet they find nothing. He takes bail and comes out the next day.
Konda comes to see Allu
The Brother of Konda Reddy comes to see Allu Arjun as he is the one who saved their wood which is worth crores. Allu Arjun, aka Pushpa, seizes this opportunity and meets Konda Reddy in person. He gives him ideas about how they could smuggle the goods without the cops noticing it. Konda Reddy trusts his instincts and follows him. This method suggested by Allu Arjun works out perfectly.
Another circumstance in Pushpa’s movie leads to an occasion where the cops find out the place in which the syndicate stocks the illegal wood. Allu Arjun aka Pushpa once again saves the day by cunningly hiding the Red Sandalwood. This secures him an opportunity to meet Mangalam Cheenu, the syndicate leader. The smuggled Red Sandalwood gets to Mangalam Cheenu, and he is the one who sells them at a higher price.
Next in Pushpa movie, Mangalam Cheenu’s trust in Allu Arjun breaks as he questions the percentage of money given to him and Konda reddy as Mangalam Cheenu obtains most of it without sharing. After obscuring the truth, Allu Arjun and Konda Reddy decide to move against the syndicate leader. This leads to a gang war between the two, costing lives, including Konda Reddy. But Allu Arjun yet again saves the day. After this in Pushpa Movie, the viewers get to witness how Allu Arjun overtakes the syndicate and the obstacle he faces after that.
The Characterization
In Pushpa movie, Allu Arjun’s character is defined very well. He has a dark past where society ignored him because of his birth. Even after being successful and very powerful, his past still haunts him. Enemies use this as an advantage to gain the upper hand. This seems to be the only thing that slows Pushpa down. The characterization in Pushpa movie is done very well, where we could feel the rage of Pushpa as he hunts his enemies down. Ace movie director, Sukumar, has a good history of writing characters very well. This once again proves it.
Role of Fahad Fazil
As much as it is harder to think, it is even harder to say that Fahad Fazil’s character in Pushpa movie doesn’t seem to make any impact. The creators have included him in this movie to not have to introduce him in part two. Instead, they could jump right into the story. That’s where they made a huge mistake. His character gives the audience the feeling that it is forcibly fed. What the creators could have done instead is by just introducing his character and not going into details. This would’ve been a better ending to the movie.
The Romance
Pushpa Movie is slowed down at love potions. It is very cringing to see them. Rhashmika Mandanna plays a cringe heroine role that doesn’t match the story.
Other Pros and Cons
Pros:
The cinematography is such a wonder to see as every shot is made perfectly. Fight sequences were very well made too. Not to mention the music composed by Thaman elevates many scenes in the movie. The casting must be appreciated as the villain characters in the movie were carried and handled well by the relevant actors.
Cons:
The only cons are the climax and the love potions of the movie. This changes our impression of the movie to a certain level.
Overall Verdict (3/5)
Pushpa is an entertaining movie that falls short at certain times but still manages to grab the audience’s attention.
