Chanel Nail Care. The very name conjures up feelings of French chic and perfectly polished tips. But is this brand worthy of the automatic association-typecasting, offering true Chanel nail care, or is it merely an expensive name on a pretty bottle? I recently went splurge-happy and grabbed a few Chanel nail goodies to see for myself. And because I’m a giver, I’ll share the scoop on everything from polishes to base and top coats.
First Impressions: Luxe Look and Lavish Packaging
No question-when it comes to packaging, Chanel makes a statement. The polishes are housed in gorgeous, sleek bottles that feel really weighty and luxurious. It definitely bumps the experience of painting your nails up a level of fancy. And the shades themselves run the gamut from timeless classic reds to trendy neon shades and glittery glam shades. There’s a Chanel shade for every mood and outfit.
The Good Stuff: Quality Counts (Mostly)
Now, on to the good stuff-performances! Here’s what rocked my world – or at least my nail beds – about Chanel nail care:
High-Pigment Power: When it comes to Chanel lacquers, sometimes less is more. These formulas offer incredible color payoff, with most shades achieving full opacity in two coats. Nope, no streaky nails here!
Fast Drying Formula: Ugh, who doesn’t hate sitting around waiting for their nails to dry? And while I wouldn’t say that these are the fastest drying polishes of all time, they do dry a bit faster than your average polish. Which is a definite plus for impatient polishers like myself.
Luxe Shine Factor: These polishes have the most gorgeous shine factor-whatever formula they’re using is truly sublime. So glossy, so chic. Your nails will shine like little lacquered jewels.
Base and Top Coat Boost The brand itself, Chanel, has a base coat and top coat that can add to your manicure to add to the perfection. The base coat prevents staining and evens out ridges in the nail. The top coat gives it a bundle of shine and adds a few extra days of wear.
The Not-So-Good Stuff: A Few Things to Consider
While the quality is beyond doubt, there are a number of things to consider:
Costly Polish : Let’s get real here, the Chanel nail polish costs a pretty penny. You will get the same quality polishes at the drugstore for much cheaper.
Chipping Problems: While the wear in itself is rather good, some still report that the Chanel polishes appear to chip with more frequency than some other high-end brands. You may be applying more often than you would like.
Thinner Formula: The formula is on the thinner side. Again, this makes for easy application, but might also require more coats to get that full coverage look.
Formaldehyde-Free Formulas mostly: A huge win for anyone who is chemically sensitive, just remember there are some Chanel shades still with formaldehyde included, so check those labels.
The Verdict: Manicure Must-Have or Miss?
So, is all that fuss about Chanel nail care worth it? Well, putting things straight tablespread-the verdict is pretty much the following:
For the nail phaetane keen on experiencing the best of pigment packed colors-luxurious feel and breathtakingly beautiful glossy finish-then for them chanel might be really worth splurging. Easy to apply, quick-drying and imparts fingertips with Parisian chic-but yes, such things also come under pricey tags, the results may not be too different from some drugstore options.
Would I Recommend This?
It depends! If you’re on a budget or really need frequent manicures, go look at other brands. If however, you’re pampering yourself or need a special occasion polish, Chanel might be fun to indulge in. Remember that regardless of brand flawless manicure is all about application and base and top coats!
Final Thoughts
The Chanel nail care is going to yield an experience of luxe. High pigment polishes, with beautiful finishes along with fast drying formulas come at a luxe price tag, and for most it may not be best in terms of wear time. So think wisely whether you need to go to a designer mani or not.
